Anyone working or volunteering within VCSE organisations
What is this course about?
The course takes Learners with no prior experience of safeguarding to a Level 2 competency, required for those that have regular contact with children. It covers the following topics:
Overview: The concept of safeguarding children in a charity/VCSE setting, including contextual safeguarding, regulations and guidance, and the structure of the child protection systems in each of the UK nations.
The 5 R's of Safeguarding: How to Recognise the different types of harm that a child can suffer, how to Respond to concerns, how to Record and Report these concerns, and how these concerns will be Referred to the relevant authorities.
Different Types of Harm: Covering the 4 main types of harm; physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse and neglect, and additional topics such as online abuse, bullying, Prevent, FGM, county lines, exploitation and trafficking, breast flattening and forced marriage. Recognising the signs and who is most at risk.

Is there proof of completion?
After a short online test, your completion certificate can be downloaded immediately.
